(TO) KEEP IN TOUCH: A WORKSHOP

(To) Keep in Touch emphasizes a practice of touch research. The workshop builds up a bond between various local institutions (i.e. schools, elderly or social homes, corporations, etc.) and the art venue (i.e. theatre, museum, gallery, festival, etc.) where the project is temporarily hosted.

In collaboration with the group, the art venue will contact 5 local institutions both within their network or outside of it, to gather for a two days workshop, one that takes place in the location of each institution and one within the walls of the art venue.

Day 1

Each choreographer spreads separately throughout the city to give a workshop in their partner institutions. Participants will be invited to (re)explore, step by step, the wide range of touch: on a somatic and physiological level (skin touch, muscular touch, bone touch), on a spatial level (non touch, distant touch, close touch), on an energetic level (awakening touch, calming touch, massaging), on a social level (annoying touch, healing touch, “mothering” touch) and on an imaginary and poetic level (“landscape” touch, “magic” touch). The focus is on the capacities to receive and give, to acknowledge the variety of qualities of touch, and to open up a sensual creativity in a safe, respectful and playful way.

Day 2

Interested participants from the previous day will gather inside the art venue for a second workshop to experience a specific performative material, called “service tasks”, which invites them to (re)discover their own wishes, desires, pleasures and to frame it in a performative, dramatic and choreographic way, coupled as duets. One will simply give the service, accomplishing a list of her or his partner’s idea of pleasure in the most pragmatic and dedicated way. The other will receive the “services”, remaining physically passive having the task to share her or his experience through the gaze with the spectators.
